What to Pack |
For your trek there are few essential things which you need to carry.
- Proper trekking shoes: Which are comfortable and tough, yet those are flexible and have good ankle support. Also, see that they are water resistant
- Other Foot Gear: 01 pair of floaters / flip flops, 4 pair of cotton socks, 2 pair of woollen socks.
- Backpack: You will also need a good backpack with sturdy straps and supporting frame. Rain cover for your backpack is a must with sturdy straps.
- Walking Stick: At least 01 is advisable.
- Head Torch: At least 01 is advisable (Avoid Hand Torch).
- Clothing: Two T-shirts (Synthetic quick dry) + trek pants in case you first pant get wet. Wear one pair and carry the other pair with you. Do not carry jeans. Track pants are ideal. Three warm layers: You will be trekking at a high altitude so it is very important that you have proper clothes for the climatic conditions. Do not forget to carry a windproof Jacket and Poncho.

Is First Aid Kit Advisable?
- You must carry a first aid kit with you. Sometimes you could have symptoms of AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness) also which includes a headache, nausea and vomiting. During your trek, our team will carry a first aid kit and fully equipped oxygen cans for such situations. Drinking water is very essential.
Can I Have Liquor or Smoke While We’re on the Trek?
- As you will be trekking to a high altitude drinking and smoking will affect you breathing conditions. Drinking and smoking are not at all recommended during the trek.
Is There Any Network Availability at Annapurna Base Camp Trek?
- Most of the places networks of many cell phone providers are easily available. However, there are always chances that the network signals get weak and finally disconnected as one hits high altitude areas. There is no cell phone signal at most of the places at high altitudes.
What About Medical Facilities?
- Basic facilities for proper medical aid are available throughout the hike. However, those on special medication or with known drug allergies should bring their own necessary medications.

- Extensive and painstaking preparations have gone into the planning of trek routes keeping safety in mind. Our experienced camp leaders have been constantly visiting the area to check all the details. Stringent safety standards are adhered to strictly, and only quality equipment is used.

It serves as a gateway to the Annapurna region. Evening small brief about the trek and rest of the time free for your own activities.

Embark on a scenic 2-hour drive to Kliyu. The adventure truly begins as we commence trekking towards Ghandruk, passing through Lower Ghandruk on a well-paved path with intermittent stairs. Along the way, we'll cross the Bhurgundi River bridge near Birethanti, where we'll complete necessary formalities with local authorities for the Annapurna Base Camp Trek. Continuing onwards, the trail ascends towards Ghandruk, involving a climb up stone steps to Kimche before easing into a more gradual path. Approximately 2 hours from Kimche, we'll arrive at Ghandruk, the largest village on our route. Here, traditional stone-built houses dot the landscape alongside tea houses offering authentic Nepalese cuisine. Ghandruk offers stunning views of Machapuchhare and Annapurna on clear days.

Today's hike takes you along a delightful muddy trail, winding through picturesque villages nestled amidst stunning scenery. After a gentle ascent of about an hour, you'll arrive at Kimrong Khola, a small village perched atop a ridge offering breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks. Snow-capped giants such as Annapurna South, Gangapurna, Machapuchare, and Hiunchuli begin to grace the horizon. From Kimrong, the trail descends sharply about 400 meters through dense oak and rhododendron forests to Kimrong Khola. Continuing onward, the path ascends steadily for 4-5 hours until you reach Chhomrong. Across the valley, you'll catch glimpses of Sinuwa Village nestled on the mountainside, while the majestic Annapurna South dominates the skyline. Chhomrong offers numerous tea houses and shops stocked with essentials like batteries and memory cards.

Begin your day with a descent down 2,500 stone-built stairs leading to a picturesque bridge spanning Chomrung Khola, where dense forests beckon. The sanctuary is rich with rhododendrons, oaks, and alpine trees, their vibrant hues painting the trail with reddish-pink flowers. Ascend the opposite side of the mountain to Sinuwa Village, overlooking the rushing Chomrung River below. The trail climbs steeply to Sinuwa, a tranquil hamlet dotted with cozy teahouses and lodges nestled amid slender forest covers. Beyond Sinuwa, the trail transitions to human-powered transport, as donkeys are prohibited further along. Annapurna III looms prominently in the backdrop. Continue your trek with a climb leading to Kulidhar, followed by a descent that concludes at Bamboo camp.

Prepare yourself with ample energy, as today marks the most challenging leg of our trek. Despite the demanding terrain, you'll be rewarded with ever-changing landscapes, transitioning from lush sub-tropical vegetation to rugged alpine vistas that will keep you invigorated.
Within an hour, you'll reach the first village of Dovan. Here, the majestic peak of Machapuchhare will come into view. Along the way, a wooden bridge and a shrine stand out as notable landmarks amidst the dense alpine forests. Himalaya greets you with its charm before the terrain shifts to a rocky, boulder-strewn environment where bamboo, grasses, and ferns flourish. An intriguing feature awaits after an hour of ascent: the Hinku cave, though currently inaccessible due to blockage. A brief descent followed by a 15-minute traverse over snow patches and a stream crossing leads to a final ascent of about 20 minutes, culminating at Deurali, our camping site for the night. Nestled amidst lush greenery, Deurali offers panoramic views of Machapuchhare, Gangapurna, and Annapurna III.

The trail ascending from Deurali leads through a rugged boulder-strewn section, gradually opening up to a valley where the thundering Modi Khola river flows alongside. Continuing for about 40 minutes over rocky terrain, you'll reach Bagar, passing by abandoned lodges. An hour's walk from here brings you to a bridge spanning the Modi Khola, marking the final stretch to Machapuchre Base Camp (MBC), just 30 minutes away. Keep left for breathtaking views of the Annapurna Range and straight ahead for the majestic Machapuchre. MBC is renowned for its stunning vistas, especially the mesmerizing moonrise over Machapuchre. Admire peaks such as Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Annapurna III, Gandharvachuli, and Gangapurna from this vantage point. The trail sharply turns left towards Annapurna Base Camp (ABC), beginning with a steep ascent followed by a more gradual climb above the treeline, where trees become scarce. Approaching ABC, the grandeur of Annapurna I looms larger with each step. ABC itself feels like an island surrounded by towering peaks, ranging from 6,000 to 8,000 meters, offering a breathtaking 360-degree panorama of Annapurna, Gangapurna, Gandharvachuli, and Machapuchre.

Begin your day by retracing the path back to Sinuwa, followed by a steep descent towards Chomrung Khola. The hike to Sinuwa typically takes around 45 minutes. Cross the iconic hanging bridge once more, continuing towards Chomrung Khola, where another steep ascent awaits to reach Chomrung village. The journey from Chomrung Khola to Chomrung village spans about an hour, offering ample opportunities to relive and enjoy the picturesque vistas captured earlier in your trek.
From Chomrung, follow an ascending trail until you reach a signpost marking the way to Jhinu. Here, embark on a steep descent via steps that lead directly to Jhinu. The hike to Jhinu takes approximately 1.5 hours. Jhinu is renowned for its natural hot springs surrounded by lush subtropical forests, offering a perfect spot to unwind and rejuvenate. Enjoy a relaxing soak in the hot springs, just 20 minutes away from the settlement.

After a soothing soak at Jhinu Hot Spring, descend along the trail leading to Kimrong Khola Bridge, a pleasant 45-minute walk away. Continue past local houses until you reach the roadhead, where transportation awaits to take you back to Pokhara.
